I wasn’t “whining” about not liking the trash talk, I mean… I do join in and it is still part of the game and fun.

I am talking about the people out there who make it their entire goal just to put the other people down… and there are a lot of them.

The ones who cuss after every word, and use very crude terms and say racial comments. Trash talking is fun to a limit until someone starts calling you a smelly cu*t or something.

Also, the female gamers thing…

Like I clearly stated in the thing,”Girls just want to be treated and looked at like everyone else.”

You can talk on your mic in XBL, and on vent, and no one bothers or thinks twice. If I do I am constantly being badgered about being “hawt” and “omgz girls don’t play games” and many other things. It’s never ending, and you could see why it would be frustrating.

The gaming world isn’t all male-dominated so much anymore. Plus it’s also kids on there, parents, grandparents, people of other cultures (who are probably offended by some racial comments made.) and 38% of gamers is female.

People should respect all types of people who play, because it isn’t just about the crazy frat-boy’s who play, and it actually never really has been.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Epic fail for a stellar performance of misunderstanding the way males relate to each other. Video games will always be an outlet cursing, grunting, competition, and vented frustration. It’s just like a typical bar fight, except here nobody even gets hurt. What you’re doing is like pushing yourself in the middle of a fight and whining about it when a stray punch knocks you square in the jaw. If you don’t like it, enter the bar but don’t join the fight. If you don’t like trash talk, play the game and mute your mic. It isn’t everyone else’s job to conform to your style.

And -10 points on the “female gamer” diatribe. Guys play games and no one cares. Girls play games and no one cares. Girls play games and talk about how they’re girls playing games and the world rolls their collective pair of eyes. Girls play games and whine about how the male-dominated gaming community conducts itself the way men in the world do–with relentless badgering and flaring egos. And people like me respond like this.

@Comrade: Yes, that’s always a stressful situation to be in, especially if you’re not fully aware of how certain parts of the game work. It also sets you up for ridicule from the other players. Just keep your head in the game, and learn as much about the game play as possible.

For instance, I’ve been playing Quake 3/4 and RTCW for years, but I just picked up Counter Strike: Source a couple of months ago. At first I was that “n00b” everyone hated to have on their team, but I just kept my eyes and ears open for the first few days of game play, and now I’m one of the better players on the servers I frequent.

I think this is part of the reason I’m a little intimidated to get fully into gaming—not only am I female, but I’m also new and unskilled, which makes matters more stressful.

I’m not a gamer. But my guess is because gaming is now more common, you are getting more and more non-traditional gamer types involved.

Every internet bb or chat group is full of idiots like that. I’ve quit a few because of them.

Exactly. The Real problem is, people refer it by video “games”, so the 1st thing that comes to their mind is 8 year olds. But, video games are actually the evolution of movies. You dont get surprised when a 18+ is watching a TV, do you.

I’m not sure, the negativity I see is just venting frustration. I’ve been called everything in the book, but in the end, it was all in good fun. No one really takes it seriously and if you do, you have problems.

Wow. That word says it all. Just… wow. I have gotten mad at dying and crap but c’mon… it is still just a game. I can’t stand players that act like that. It is really sad at how many people have an {M} next to their names on my Vent. Guess that’s it…
