Of course, gaming companies use this day to have a little fun, and try and “trick” us all into believing outrageous things. Well… as time has gone on, it is more expected now, so they come up with some pretty creative and bizarre ideas… some funny, others kind of lame.
Here are a few things I have come across just from today.
XFire.com – Hope you all studied and understand 1337$p34k (Leetspeak) because they did the entire website in it! Unfortunately I am rather slow when it comes to this, so I had a little trouble navigating the site this morning.
World of Warcraft - I usually find the stuff Blizzard does pretty funny, but this year it was kind of a let down. They announced a new player class the “Bard” which is a spoof of a mixture of WoW and Guitar Hero (not very original.) Also, they turned everyone’s avatar on the forums into a bear. (I don’t find this funny, or a reason behind this really, unless someone can clear up my confusion.)
I would put a link to the site, but unfortunately everytime I have tried to access it today it crashes my Firefox… annoying…
Pwned.com – Ahh yes… Pwned.com’s first April Fool’s Day ever! I honestly love this site, and am on it a lot. Most people thought it was lame, but Andy (the site owner) literally got up at like 3 AM to put it on there. I think it is rather funny, and it also scared the crap out of me because I wasn’t expecting it. To see what it is just go to www.pwned.com.
Lord of the Rings Online – A new player race! Chickens! Haha, well I thought it was funny because there are quests where you do get to play as a chicken (and it is surprisingly fun.) But they totally conspired this new race with it’s own housing, and they made screenshots of full raids of chickens attempting raid bosses and all! Pretty good one imo…

Of course I already made a blog post about the Legend of Zelda movie. But these were just a few jokes I ran into today. If you saw any other great ones… please feel free to leave them in a comment.
